Hatha Yoga
8:30 AM - 9:45 AM
Every Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m.

Instructor Anna Raphael

Hatha Yoga is the most commonly practiced type of yoga in the west, consisting of practice of physical postures (asana), meditation (dhyana), and breathwork (pranayama).  This class incorporates more of an Iyengar approach, utilizing props like blocks and straps to make poses accessible to all bodies.

"Ha" is a Sanskrit term meaning sun, and "Tha" means moon, so my personal definition takes Hatha Yoga to  mean taking the sun, or masculine energy of the body, incorporating dynamic and strengthening physical postures; and combining it with the moon, or feminine energy of the body, incorporating more cooling, calming postures and breathwork, to balance both body and mind.

In this class we will stretch and tone, doing revitalizing pranayama (conscious breathing), sun salutations, and invigorating flowing postures.  Energizing way to start your morning!
